I am inspired by nature, and the fragility of life on this planet.

I find things in nature more beautiful and wonderous than anything that I could make.

more specifically the flora and fauna, of my home state of Louisiana-

not just the clichéd oak trees shade and the songs of the red winged blackbird.

I am very influenced by the weeds, the river, the struggling space of the unruly batture, the tangles of vines that flourish and bloom in the swamp, the wide expanses of rice fields that support crawfish harvests in the Atchafalaya basin, the sweet scented piney woods full of deer and songbirds, by the changes and the various and beautiful states of Gulf weather, fog and rain, thunderous rain.

I am influenced and inspired by the complexity of culture and history and the importance of places to cultural development and by the evidence left by what and who has passed through a place over time.

I have also been influenced by some very wonderful and talented and sometimes very serious artists, and enterpreneurs, - some mentors, some guides, some of whom I have had the honor of meeting and/or working for, some neighbors, some teachers, some judges of my work, some fellow performers, all of whom have shown me by their example not to fear manifesting your own personal vision, no matter how outrageous, or unlikely it may seem at the time.

click on some of their names below to find out more about some of them-

Losang Samten, Paul Prudhomme, Martin Puryear, David Hammons, Lin Emery, Dennis Oppenheim, Vito Acconci, Dale Chihuly, Stanislav Libensky, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Mel Chin, Les Blank, Michael Scheiner, Elmore Morgan, Willam Wiley, Robert Carlson, Dante Maroni,
Maestro Pino Sinoretto, Guerrilla Girls, Christina Bertoni, Eve Andree Laramee, Sonny & Bruce Chao

And lastly, I am greatly influenced by my community, neighbors, co-workers, collegues, students, family and all the people who I see, known or unknown, day after day- who strive and struggle daily and make the world a better place just by being here - loving each moment of their lives.
